Angela Evelyn Bassett, an American actress, is known for her roles in film and on television since the mid 1980s. Bassett has been awarded a variety of honors, such as the Golden Globe Award, and 16 NAACP Image Awards. Angela Evelyn is an American actress. Bassett was born in Winston-Salem North Carolina, raised by an aunt in New York New York. At the age of Bassett was around five She and her sister relocated to St. Petersburg, Florida to stay with their mother who had been divorced from her father. In high school, Bassett watched John Steinbeck's drama Of Mice and Men starring James Earl Jones and decided that she wanted to become an actor. Yale University New Haven Connecticut granted her a bachelor's degree (1980) with a focus on African American study, and an honorary doctorate (1983) in the Yale School of Drama. While at Yale she came across Courtney B. Vance a co-actor and they were married in 1997. Qualification: B.A. Degree in African-American Studies in 1981.
